Remembrance Day

Message from the Ombudsman | 11 November 2025

On Remembrance Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have served Canada—at home and abroad.

Canadian military members have always stepped up when we needed them most, defending our freedoms, and working to build a peaceful world.

We also recognize the families who stand behind them – offering strength, love and unwavering support through every challenge.  Their sacrifices, though often unseen, are deeply felt and deeply valued.

Today, we reflect. We remember. We express our gratitude to those who have served and, in some cases, made the ultimate sacrifice.

Take the time to thank a Veteran, listen to their story, and learn more about their lives and legacies.

I am proud of the thousands of people in uniform who serve and have served our country with dedication and integrity. I am equally proud of the broader Defence community whose contributions are vital to the strength and resilience of our Canadian Armed Forces.

In a fragile world, the pursuit of peace, the strength of unity, and the power of understanding are our guiding lights.

Your service reminds us of the values we must continue to uphold—justice, compassion, and unity.

Thank you for serving our country.

Lest we forget.
