What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a NMSO for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative, except areas subject to comprehensive land claims agreements.
This procurement tool is used to purchase commercial tires, tubes and airless tires for:
- light duty vehicles
- medium and heavy vehicles
- refueling vehicles and trailers
- agricultural tractors and equipment
- earthmoving and construction
- material handling equipment
- aircraft and airfield ground support equipment
Installation, maintenance, aircraft, military and pursuit vehicle applications are excluded.
How do we buy
- Standing offers (SO) are used to buy commercial tires, tubes and airless tires
- 1 solicitation is issued for the requirement and open to all suppliers
- Suppliers are typically tire manufacturers with a network of Canadian distribution points
- Suppliers compete by offering prices and percentage discounts from a published price list. The published price lists include the percentage discounts of all the tire categories making it easy for clients to shop and price
- All responsive offers are issued a SO

Value / Savings / Considerations
As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of the SO. Canada benefits from having quick access to a wide selection of suppliers as well as being able to use an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements.
