What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a RMSO for the department of National Defence (DND)—Halifax/Greenwood, the department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO)—Coast Guard College, Parks Canada—Cape Breton Highlands, other government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
Highway salt comes in bulk and in 20 kg bags for delivery to various locations within Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island.
How do we buy
- 1 Standing Offer (SO) is issued
- Highway salt is procured through a call-up against the SO
- Individual call-up limitation is set at $100,000. (applicable taxes included)
- Pricing varies as the unit price (per metric ton) includes cost for delivery. Cost is provided per location. There are minimum order requirements for delivery to the various sites
- Price of 20 kg bags varies in unit price there are also minimum order requirements

After conducting a survey with all the clients, it was determined that only the above-noted departments had a requirement for this commodity. Since pricing is based on individual locations, we restricted the use of this SO to these clients.
