What do we buy

Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish 4 NMSOs for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI). These NMSOs will not be applicable to areas subject to comprehensive land claims agreements (CLCAs).

These standing offers (SO) will be used for the acquisition of reagents and chemicals for Genomic Sequencing of Pathogens of Public Health Importance from 4 suppliers:

• Oxford Nanopore Technologies
• Ilumina ULC.
• New England Biolabs
• Life Technologies

The purchase of these reagents and chemicals will ensure National Microbiology Laboratory Branch and partner provinicial and territorial labs can continue to provide critical public health services for the Goverment of Canada.

How do we buy

• Reagents are procured via a call-up against the SO
• 4 requests for standing offers (RFSO) will be issued via CanadaBuys and sent to the 4 sole source suppliers
• The period of the SO is for 1 year with 3 additional option years

Value / Savings / Considerations

As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of these SO. CCPI participants benefit from having quick access to suppliers able to supply laboratory reagents and chemicals as well as being able to use an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements.
