What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a NMSO for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
This procurement tool is for the purchase of lightweight extendable batons which are one intervention option for members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as well as other law enforcement personnel. This particular intervention option is carried on the officer’s tool belt and used at his/her discretion based on their risk assessment and the totality of the situation. As such this piece of equipment will be carried indoors, outdoors in wet and dry conditions. It may be exposed to extreme variations in temperature and weather conditions as well as random impact(s) during training and operational deployments. Ultimately this intervention option is used to assist law enforcement personnel resolve dynamic interventions quickly and safely.
How do we buy
- There are no existing standing offers (SO) for the procurement of lightweight extendable batons
- No early engagements nor request for information with industry were conducted as this is considered a commercial off-the-shelf product
- The competitive requirement is be posted to CanadaBuys for 30 to 35 calendar days resulting in the award of a single SO
- Bidders competes by offering prices for the baton specified in the request for SO; evaluated against mandatory criteria requirements
- The SO will be issued to the lowest compliant offeror, and all other offers will be not considered for the SO
- The period of the SO will be 2 years and will include up to 3, 1-year option periods
- The baton will be procured as a call-up against the SO
