United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC): 26111604 – Gas generators
National Master Standing Offer (NMSO)
What do we buy
Public Services and Procurement Canada seeks to establish an NMSO for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
This procurement tool is used for the purchase of portable generators:
- Inverter generators (stream 1)
- AC/Conventional generators (stream 2)
How do we buy
- Standing offers (SO) are used to buy portable generators
- 1 solicitation is issued for the requirement
- Offerors are either the manufacturers or distributors
- Offerors compete by offering lowest price per stream, making it easy for clients to find the one with the best overall value
- If the highest ranked offeror is unable to meet the requirement, the User will contact the next ranked offeror in the stream
- A maximum of 2 SOs may be issued per stream
- The SO is for a period of 2 years with an option to extend for 2 additional 1 year periods
Socio-economic aspects

Value / Savings / Considerations
By leveraging the consolidated business volume through the use of SOs, CCPI participants benefit from having quicker access to portable generators, while also achieving economies of scale and cost-efficiency.
