What do we buy

Public Services and Procurement Canada is to establish a SA for government departments, agencies, Crown corporations, and organizations participating in the Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI)

This procurement tool is for the purchase of the supply, delivery and installation of ancillary and lighting products.

How do we buy

  • The procurement tool for this commodity is a supply arrangement (SA) and is being refreshed (that is current product listing available as well as the pricing offered by the suppliers will be changed or updated)
  • Suppliers for this commodity are typically manufacturers and resellers
  • The SA is opened under two different streams: one open to all suppliers and the other will be a set aside for aboriginal owned businesses
  • The furniture offered under the SA will be required to meet or exceed standards based technical requirements
  • A request for bid is issued for all requirements in excess of $25,000 before a contract can be awarded. The contract is awarded based on lowest price

Socio-economic aspects

  • SAs awarded by category, on a regional basis for Set-Aside for Aboriginal Businesses allow participation by small and medium enterprises
  • One of the two streams on the SA will be a Set-Aside for Aboriginal Businesses
  • Products listed on the SA will meet environmental considerations and will lead towards credits for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification

Value / Savings / Considerations

As a result of the business volume, economies of scale are generated by the use of the SO. Canada benefits from having quick access to Ancillary and lighting products as well as being able to use an efficient procurement method to fulfill their requirements.
