Get a myKEY
You need a myKEY to:
- exchange encrypted email and Protected B documents and information
- use specific Government of Canada (GC) applications (accessible only on the GC network), such as:
Eligibility
- all GC workers (department, agency or Crown corporation)
- external partners and consultants completing work on behalf of the GC and who are sponsored by an employee
Steps for getting a myKEY
Step 1 – Find out how your organization provides myKEY

Check if your department is on the Online Registration and Credential Administration (ORCA) Participating Departments list (accessible only on the GC network)
If your department is listed, review the ORCA Terms of Use (accessible only on the GC network).
If your organization is not listed, or not on the GC network, proceed to the next step.
Step 2 – Do one of the following
If your organization has ORCA access:
- Obtain a myKEY via ORCA (accessible only on the GC network).
If your organization does not have ORCA access or is not on the GC network:

Contact your Local Registration Authority (LRA)
If you don’t have your LRA’s contact information, contact your organization’s IT service desk.
