Ombudsman to Honour Members of Canada’s Defence Community at the 21st Annual Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation Ceremony

Message from the Ombudsman | 17 October 2022

I invite members of Canada’s Defence community to the Ombudsman’s 21st annual Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation ceremony.

Join us on Zoom (not accessible on the DWAN) at 10:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, 20 October 2022 to congratulate this year’s extraordinary recipients: Captain Sarah Black, Dr. Karen Breeck (Major Ret’d), Ms. Jennifer Calkin, and the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Culture Advisory Organization National Committee (Major Jean-Raphael Fleury, Major Hilary Forbes and Chief Warrant Officer Nicole Barrett).

These recipients translated their dedication and inspiration into action.

It will also be an honour to host our special guests at the ceremony. These guests will include Dr. Andrea Hoffman as well as representatives from the Royal Canadian Navy, Royal Canadian Air Force, Military Personnel Command, Chief Professional Conduct and Culture, Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services, and Canadian Forces Housing Agency.

Liz Hoffman was an investigator with our office who had a deeply rooted sense of fairness and was a tremendous force for positive change. This commendation allows us to recognize those in the Defence community who, like Liz, are dedicated to helping others and bringing about positive and lasting change to the Defence community. Learn more about the Liz Hoffman Memorial Commendation on our website.
