The Drug Product Database (DPD) is maintained by Health Canada. Drugs in the DPD can be identified by a Drug Identification Number (DIN).

These drugs include:

  • drugs for humans and animals
  • disinfectants
  • radiopharmaceutical drugs
  • biological drugs for humans
    • Biological drugs for animals are regulated by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. To learn more, visit Veterinary Biologics

Certain drugs may appear on the DPD 6 months after they are authorized. These include:

  • sunscreen
  • anti-dandruff shampoo
  • hard surface disinfectants
