Announcement of new border processing technology at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport

Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 6, 2017 - The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) invite members of the media to attend an event marking the launch of the next generation of border processing technologies at Halifax Stanfield Airport.
The Honourable Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Kings – Hants, on behalf of the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, CBSA Atlantic Region, Calvin Christiansen, Regional Director General and Joyce Carter, President and Chief Executive Officer at HIAA, will be on hand to talk about the recent launch of new Primary Inspection Kiosks (PIK) and how this technology will simplify the border experience for travellers, while strengthening border security.
CBSA officials will provide a technical demonstration. There will be opportunities to photograph and obtain b-roll of the new PIK technology.

Due to security restrictions, media are asked to arrive no later than 9:40 a.m. to register at the CBSA Nexus office area and to have credentials/photo identification available. As the kiosks are in a controlled area, media will be escorted in and out. Photography and videography will be restricted to specific areas only.
