Digital commercial trade services
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) administers multiple digital applications, systems and portals to facilitate communications and reporting with and by the cross-border trade chain community. Navigate the digital services and supporting information available to importers, exporters, brokers, shippers and others doing business with us.
CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management) Client Portal
Members of the cross-border trade community that import goods into Canada must register their business in the CARM Client Portal to gain access to the CBSA’s online services. Once your business has registered, you can sign in to the portal to:
- enrol in CBSA programs and sub-programs such as Release Prior to Payment, import-export programs (RM) accounts)
- get a CBSA-issued carrier code
- assess and pay duties and taxes on the commercial goods you import
- submit Commercial Accounting Declarations online
- access statements of account
- request advance rulings
- manage your customs account
- delegate authority to brokers or employees

eManifest Portal
Highway carriers and freight forwarders can use the eManifest Portal to transmit pre-arrival trade data to the CBSA. Warehouse operators and brokers can use the eManifest Portal to view trade documents forwarded by another trade chain partner.

- verify status of the trade data, whether it is transmitted through the Portal or by electronic data interchange (EDI)
- receive system messages from the CBSA updating users on important information related to their cross-border activities

Canadian Export Reporting System (CERS)
Exporters and customs service providers can apply for an account. Account holders can submit export documents electronically using the CERS Portal.

Eligible cross-border trade community members can create an account in the Trusted Trader Portal and use the portal to apply to and to participate in the Partners in Protection Program.

Electronic data interchange (EDI)
Carriers, importers, exporters, brokers and warehouse operators can connect their internal systems directly to CBSA systems using EDI. This allows you to electronically transmit trade data like cargo and conveyance information, release data and commercial exporting data, without using a portal.

Anti-dumping and countervailing e-filing (ACE) web applications
The ACE web application is a secure method to submit information to the Trade Programs and Operations Directorate of the CBSA.
Members of the public or their representative may create an account to submit and access information in proceedings under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) or submit documents of an administrative matter under SIMA.

Electronic Longroom
The import and export longrooms are email and digital stamping services offered at some CBSA offices. Commercial clients can use this service instead of submitting certain paper requests in person.
