New ATIP progress report for LAC—December 2025
Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has published its latest progress report highlighting its efforts in access to information and privacy (ATIP).
This seventh update outlines the progress made since the release of its ATIP action plan in August 2022. This ambitious plan was launched after an investigation by the Information Commissioner of Canada into LAC’s difficulties in meeting the timelines set out in the Access to Information Act.
Having implemented a series of measures to enhance the effectiveness of its ATIP function, LAC has entered a stabilization phase and continues to report positive results. These include improved consultation processes with other departments, as well as easier access to records held by LAC, facilitated by the removal of barriers and the promotion of self-service options.
