Booking our spaces
LAC spaces in Ottawa and Gatineau are now available at no cost for not-for-profit organizations, registered charities, and public institutions.

Who can apply
We accept requests from:
- non-profit organizations
- registered charities
- public institutions
- organization with a partnership agreement with LAC
Additional costs
Other related fees may still apply and may not be covered by LAC (for example: AV/IT, insurance, licensing, catering). Only the cost for the room or venue is free.
Requirements for activities
Your activity must:
- clearly connect participants with Canada’s histories and heritage
- create an inclusive and respectful environment. Activities promoting hate, discrimination, or violence are not allowed
- comply with health and safety regulations of the building where the activity takes place
- not conflict with other programming or operations already planned at the location
- align with LAC's Vision 2030 and the Master Interpretive Plan
Eligible activities
The following events or activities are eligible:
- public programming
- lectures
- readings
- forum or panel discussions
- book launches
- general meetings
- film screenings
- workshops
It's okay if your activity is not on the list above. If you have any questions, please
contact evenements-events@bac-lac.gc.ca.
How to make a request
- Submit your booking request.
- We’ll contact you within five business days with a response or follow-up
We need at least four weeks' notice
If your activity is taking place in less than four weeks, please contact us to discuss.
Guidelines for using our spaces
All decisions will be made in accordance with the Directive on Room Bookings for Activities and Events. To request a copy, please contact us directly.
Cancellations
Although LAC does its best to avoid disruptions, rooms may sometimes be needed unexpectedly for urgent operations. This means last-minute cancellations or room changes could occur.
Referrals
When a request does not meet LAC’s criteria, we may refer you to the Government of Canada’s Event and conference coordination services.
Food, drinks and decorations
Certain buildings do not allow food. This helps us protect our collections and ensure proper conservation conditions. For more information, please contact us.
