Book launch — Lisa L’Heureux (Haus) and Julie Gillet (Faire feu)
This event will take place in French only.
Library and Archives Canada and the Regroupement des éditeurs franco-canadiens invite you to the virtual launch of two poetry collections: Haus by Lisa L’Heureux (Éditions Prise de parole, 2025) and Faire feu by Julie Gillet (Éditions Perce-Neige, 2026).
Overview of the books
The socially engaged poetry of Haus exposes the violence inflicted on women and marginalized people in all its brutality. In fragments, it gives voice to lives silenced for too long and denounces how often this violence goes unpunished. This collection is a call for awareness, solidarity and change. Through striking free verse, Haus invites action to make the home livable again.
A cry of rage and a rallying call, Faire feu urges resistance and the creation of spaces of freedom where women watch over one other. Moving between the strength and fragility of the flame carried by survivors, Julie Gillet denounces abuse, assault and systemic violence. At the same time, she revisits the wounds and exhaustion that years of relentless struggle have left in her body and mind. Both furious and tender, poetry becomes a weapon of resistance and an intimate refuge. This collection celebrates sisterhood, wild love and the ability to bloom despite everything. Through joy, Faire feu invites hope to rise again.
About the authors
Lisa L’Heureux, artistic director of Théâtre Rouge Écarlate (Ottawa), is a unifying and resourceful artist. She is drawn to fragments, the unsaid, discomfort and the ephemeral. Her plays Pour l’hiver and Et si un soir (winner of the Trillium Book Award and finalist for the Governor General’s Literary Awards) are published by Éditions Prise de parole, which also publishes Haus, her first poetry collection.
Julie Gillet was born in Liège, Belgium, and now lives in Moncton, New Brunswick. With a master’s degree in journalism, she has worked for 20 years in the Francophone community sector, supporting organizations on communication, mobilization and inclusion. Driven by uncompromising feminist commitment, her writing explores violence and healing, tenderness and resistance, with particular attention to the body, marginalized voices and fractures of reality. She is the author of the essay Le jour où j’ai arrêté d’être sage (Éditions Perce-Neige, 2024) and Faire feu (Éditions Perce-Neige, 2026), her first poetry collection.
