The Supreme Court at 150

The Supreme Court at 150: banner

The Supreme Court of Canada is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. To mark this momentous occasion, a special exhibit is on display in the Supreme Court’s grand entrance hall until October 9, 2025.

This exhibition is a collaboration between Library and Archives Canada (LAC), the Senate of Canada and the Supreme Court of Canada.

LAC’s exhibitions and preservation teams have assembled an exceptional selection of original documents from the Court’s history. Highlights include the original Proclamation of the Constitution Act, 1982, an 1869 draft of a Supreme Court bill and the Court’s inaugural ruling from 1876.

You can also view the Supreme Court exhibition online.
