Deposit music or videos

Canadian publishers and producers are to submit final versions of physical music and video recordings such as:

Submit physical music and video recordings that have not been compressed using the ACE format. For CDs and DVDs, we only accept published work on commercial grade formats.

Contact us before sending material if you are unsure if it will be accepted.

1. Determine how many copies to submit

2. Complete the form

Information we collect from you may be made publicly available (see Use of personal information).

For music

Print and complete the sound recording form (PDF document) to submit material such as CDs and vinyl records.

For sheet music or video recordings

Print and complete the monograph publications form (PDF document) to submit material such as DVDs and Blu-rays.

3. Mail the materials

Mail all the materials and forms at your expense to:

Do not choose the “Card (Hold) for Pickup” option from Canada Post. LAC will not pick up packages from other locations.

While we prefer to receive submissions by mail, you may also deliver publications in person at 550 de la Cité Boulevard in Gatineau. When you arrive in the lobby, security officers will contact mail room staff to collect your documents. Do not put publications in any sort of packaging (no boxes or envelopes) and include a copy of the legal deposit form.

4. After you deposit material

Once items are received, we will:

Receipts

You will receive receipts by email.

You may use legal deposit receipts to prove the existence of material to a third party. If you require legal deposit receipts for a funding body, contact us.
