Building a Food Secure Province - Symposium Explores Science behind Agriculture Industry

October 26, 2016 – St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador – Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC)
Researchers, farmers, students, general public and others who are interested in learning more about the local agricultural research that is driving the industry forward are invited to attend the third biennial Agricultural Research Symposium being held at the Holiday Inn in St. John’s November 2-3.
This event entitled, Agricultural Research Symposium, Our Food, Our Future: Research that Feeds Newfoundland and Labrador, is a partnership between the Departments of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods and Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency and Grenfell Campus of Memorial University. The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods and Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada are contributing $43,000 to the cost of the symposium through Growing Forward 2, a federal-provincial-territorial initiative. In addition, the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agrifoods is also contributing an additional $26,000 through its Production and Market Development Division and the Department of Business, Tourism, Culture and Rural Development is contributing $12,000 through the Regional Development Program.
This two-day symposium will provide current information to participants interested in Newfoundland and Labrador agriculture.
