14 Air Reserve Flight

The Air Reserve Flight (AR Flt) was formed at 14 Wing Greenwood in 1977. Under the concept of "Total Force", the AR Flt provides fully trained personnel who work side-by-side with their Regular Force counterparts within the Units/Squadrons and provide support to meet the various mission mandates. In fulfilling this role, air reservists in the operational, technical and support Military Occupations (MOCs) are actively employed part-time in direct support of operations, as well as, national commitments. The vision of the 14 AR Flt is: "Members of the Air Force Team, who are, "PROUD TO SERVE - READY TO SUPPORT".

The 14 AR Flt at Greenwood is the largest Air Reserve Flight in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Since the inception of the Flight in 1977, it has grown from a complement of 60 personnel to an all time high of 200+ personnel is April 2002. This significant growth has certainly been welcomed throughout the wing and has been beneficial to the entire 14 Wing Team.

All administration pertaining to the AR Flt personnel such as Personnel Files, MOC Training and Pay & Benefits are conducted at the AR Orderly Room located in the Birchall Training Centre. The AR personnel are provided with full admin support from time of their enrolment to release. Understandably, the recruitment of skilled personnel (Ex Res F and Reg F) is an ongoing process and is driven by position vacancy and the applicable occupation and rank requirements. Recruitment of unskilled personnel with no previous Res F or Reg F experience is driven by the availability of Basic Military Qualification (BMQ) Training (Basic Recruit Training) and follow-on MOC training. A Recruit Training Information Briefing (approx. 2 hrs) is usually conducted to attract unskilled (ab-initio) personnel when position vacancies warrant it.
