Magazine Article / July 8, 2020 / Project number: RCAF-Excelsior-Summer-2020-2

Each year, selected out of numerous nominations submitted to the RCAF Reserve Chief Warrant Officer, the RCAF Reserve recognizes one junior non-commissioned member (NCM) for their outstanding performance. For 2019, Master Corporal Lindsey Sanders, Senior Human Resource Administrator with the 17 RCAF Reserve Flight in Winnipeg was recognized as the “RCAF Reserve Junior NCM of the Year.”

For the past year, not only did MCpl Sanders fulfilled the roles expected of her rank, she also took on those of the Chief Clerk, in addition to covering other vacant positions within the Reserve Flight Orderly Room. Her efforts ensured that the pay and administrative requirements of the RCAF reservists at 17 Wing were always met.

In the fall of 2019, 17 RCAF Reserve Flight assumed administrative support for the Reserve members at 2 Canadian Air Division Headquarters and centralized the Reserve administration functions at 17 Wing by combining the existing 402 Squadron Reserve Flight with the 17 Wing RCAF Reserve Flight. In both instances, MCpl Sanders’s dedication and administrative expertise were relied upon extensively to ensure a seamless transition into one RCAF Reserve Flight with no adverse impact on any member’s pay or benefits.

With her enormous workload, MCpl Sanders still managed to find the time to maintain a high level of fitness, volunteer for additional taskings, organize social functions within the headquarters, all the while maintaining a high level of ethical standards and dress and deportment, ensuring that she always placed service before self. It is for these many reasons that she was recognized as the 2019 RCAF Reserve Junior NCM. MCpl Sanders has proved to be a shining example for all around her – bravo!
