Did You Know? CFPAS is going to be PaCEd out!

The CAF is committed to making improvements across many of its personnel support processes, including its current performance appraisal process. Chief Military Personnel has developed the Performance and Competency Evaluation system, or PaCE, to replace the aging Canadian Forces Personnel Appraisal System (CFPAS) system.

The great news is that PaCE will help develop leaders; in addition to appraising performance, the system will also evaluate members’ competencies and provide them improved feedback through a continuous coaching process.

The RCAF is fully engaged with PaCE development and Commander RCAF has selected the members of the Airborne Electronic Sensor Operator (AES Op) occupation and their supervisors to trial the system. Participants will be among the first to use the beta PaCE system and then provide feedback to guide its completion.

To ensure a smooth transition, the PaCE trial will occur in tandem with the FY 20/21 CFPAS evaluation, and AES Ops will also receive their usual Personnel Evaluation Report, which will be used for any selection or promotion decisions. This way, there can be no adverse impact on a member’s current career path.
