Space training

As a joint capability, the Space cadre includes members from across the CAF and their civilian defence team counterparts, who work with other government departments to deliver capabilities to sea-, land- or air-based systems.

Courses in space operations are available to Defence personnel through a combination of distance and in-class learning.

• Basic Space Operations Course provides basics of space history, concepts and terminology associated with a wide variety of space systems.
• Space Operations Course is designed as a follow-up to the Basic Space Operations Course to prepare personnel for employment in space-related positions at home and abroad.
• Space Operations Course for executives prepares CAF and DND executive-level personnel.

The Space Specialist Skills Badge (SSSB) is the prominent recognition of our dedicated space professionals who possess unique skill and experience essential to addressing rapidly evolving space domain requirements for the CAF. The Space Cadre is an integral part of Canada’s defence forces and in the ongoing evolution of this capability for the CAF.
