404 Long Range Patrol and Training Squadron

Squadron Badge Significance: The buffalo is a fierce and powerful fighter.

READY TO FIGHT

404 Squadron is located in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia at 14 Wing Greenwood.

We are fortunate to have some of the best flying weather on the Eastern sea board, making it ideal to train Canadian Forces aircrew and technicians for employment on the CP-140 Aurora Long Range Patrol Aircraft.

The training at 404 Squadron is nonstop as we conduct three Maritime Operational Aircrew Training courses every year. Two of our courses last four and a half months for aircrew new to the Aurora. For those returning to the Aircraft, we offer a three month refresher course in late summer.

404 Squadron also trains all technicians who service the Aurora. Last year, we graduated a total of 208 technicians. At the annual Fincastle Competition , Greenwood's Aurora ground crews have won the Maintenance Trophy in consecutive years, confirming their superiority in the field of maintenance.

The complete squadron history can be found on the Department of National Defence's Directorate of History and Heritage webpage.
