Flying a drone in the Greater Saguenay Region

On June 1, 2019 new Transport Canada regulations came into effect. Ensure you know the rules.

Almost the entire City of Saguenay is banned from drones because of the Bagotville airport’s control zone. The Category D Control Area is bounded by a circle with a diameter of 20NM (37.04km) centred on the centre of the aerodrome, excluding most of the north bank of the Saguenay River.

If you have any doubt refer to Drone Flight Site Selection Tool or contact one of our specialists. For CF-18 training areas (CYA(M) 640, 641, 642, 643) basic RPAS operations are authorized. However, additional caution is required and increased knowledge of air traffic is required.

If you hold a drone licence for “advanced operations” and you want to fly your registered and identified drone in the Bagotville Control Zone, please contact the 3 Wing Operations Centre by phone or email to initiate the approval process.
