Honorary Colonel Dan Hennessey

Mr. Dan Hennessey was appointed as Honorary Colonel of 14 Construction Engineering Squadron, 14 Wing Greenwood N.S. in June 2015.

Honorary Colonel Hennessey was born and raised in Halifax N.S. and now serves as the Executive Director of the Bridgewater Area Chamber of Commerce. He began his career with Bell Aliant and after 23 years, tackled the real estate world. During the ten years as a realtor he was asked by the Real Estate Association of Nova Scotia to develop a training course to assist Realtors to use technology to advantage in their marketing. In his current role, Honorary Colonel Hennessey interacts with all levels of government and media as the voice of the business community.

A strong proponent of the Canadian Armed Forces dating from his early years as an Air Cadet, Honorary Colonel Hennessey organized a very successful Yellow Ribbon campaign in Bridgewater and spearheaded a memorial to Coporal (Cpl) Paul Davis, a local casualty of the Afghanistan mission. As an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and developed the video project “Time to Remember”, a video that includes 18 poignant interviews with Bridgewater area Second World War veterans.

Honorary Colonel Hennessey became a published author with the release of “With the Snap of a Glove”, a book that chronicled his battle with Prostate Cancer. The book and two prostate cancer awareness videos has national and international followers and are the basis of his advocacy on the subject through interviews on all forms of media throughout North America. His advocacy mission earned him recognition in the Nova Scotia Legislature, the House of Commons and through the award of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Honorary Colonel Hennessey and his family reside on the South Shore of Nova Scotia in Newcombville.
