Honorary Colonel Lotfi Ghattas

Mr. Lotfi Ghattas was appointed Honorary Colonel of 2 Air Expeditionary Wing in Bagotville in September 2018. He is the 2nd person to hold this position. In 2015, he had been appointed Honorary Colonel of 2 Air Component Coordination Unit (2 UCCA), a 2 Air Expeditionary Wing unit located in Bagotville, Québec. As an Honorary Colonel, he has participated in numerous military exercises and ceremonies to morally support members of the 2 UCCA and 2 Wing.

Honorary Colonel Ghattas was born in Bizerte Tunisia and immigrated to Canada in 1979. He is a graduate of the University of Laval in the Science and Engineering program as a Civil Engineer and subsequently completed a baccalaureate program at the University of Tunis in Mathematics. Honorary Colonel Ghattas began his professional career as the director of the Centre international pour l’éducation et le transfert de technologie before joining London Life, a member of the group of companies of Power Financial Corporation, as director and fiscal planning advisor. In 2007, he joined Kinlogix as Vice-President Finance, an IT company offering cloud-based solutions for medical communities, before occupying his present position as Chief Executive Officer of CPU Group, an IT company that is ranked in the top 20 private technology companies in Canada.

Honorary Colonel Ghattas is fully engaged in community activities, particularly in youth training and education programs. He joined the Fondation du Cégep Limoilou in 2011 to assist in a fund-raising campaign to provide student bursaries. Similarly, in 2004, he became the administrator and treasurer of the Fondation des Camps Odysée with the aim of providing funding for youth training and education. Honorary Colonel Ghattas served for ten years as treasurer of the association for children’s diabetes and in 2014 volunteered as the governor of the campaign to finance the Séminaire Saint-François.

Professionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors for the Association Québécoise des technologies and recently joined the Fondation des amis de l’Aviation royale du Canada as the administrator and treasurer. In January 2015, Honorary Colonel Ghattas was inducted as a member of the Ordre de la Croix des fusiliers de Sherbrooke. Honorary Colonel Ghattas has a long-standing interest in cave exploration. He formed a spelunking club in Tunisia in 1977 that is renowned for discovery of grottos near his birthplace as well as in the Pyrenees in France and in Kentucky in the USA.
