Gabriel Ferris was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. Being part of the air cadet program, he obtained a glider pilot licence and discovered a passion for aviation at a young age. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011 as an Air Traffic Controller under the Regular Officer Training Program. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Quebec in Montreal in 2014. His first affectation was to 3 Wing Bagotville operations in 2015 where he began his air traffic controller qualification.
In 2017, Capt Ferris decided to change profession and was selected to undertake training as a Public Affairs Officer. He completed his new trade qualification course in Gatineau, Quebec, in 2018. He then returned to 3 Wing Bagotville, but this time as the Wing Public Affairs Officer. In 2019, he was promoted to his current rank and deployed 5 months to Romania on Op REASSURANCE.
In 2021, Capt Ferris received an offer to be part of 431 Air Demonstration Squadron in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and shortly after joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds as the team's Public Affairs Officer. Capt Ferris is looking forward to his third season on the road with the show team in 2023.
