Captain Iain Muir

Snowbird 7, Outer Left Wing

Captain (Capt) Iain Muir was born and raised in Grande Prairie, Alberta. His aviation career began at 577 Grande Prairie Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron. As a member of the Air Cadet Program, he completed both his Glider and Private Pilot licenses.

Capt Muir joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2014 under the Regular Officer Training Plan. He attended the Royal Military College of Canada, graduating in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering.

Capt Muir earned his wings in 2021 flying on the CH-146 Outlaw. In 2022, he was posted to 2 Canadian Forces Flight Training School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, as an instructor on the CT-156 Harvard II. Capt Muir joined the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in 2025 and brings over 1,200 hours of military flying experience to the team. He flies the number 7 jet in the Outer Left Wing position.
