Avionics Technician, Canadian Forces Snowbirds
Born and raised in Kingston, Ontario, Corporal Dustin “Porky” Poirier enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in April of 2017 as an Avionics Technician. Following his basic training, he was posted back to Kingston where he completed his Performance Orientated Electrical Training (POET), and shortly after, was sent to Canadian Forces Base Borden to attend his trade course. In 2019, Cpl Poirier was posted to 431 Air Demonstration Squadron. This was great news for Cpl Poirier who, from attending air shows at a young age, always wished being posted to Moose Jaw one day. He started his CT-114 Tutor training in the winter of 2019 and was soon after cleared to work on the aircraft. Cpl Poirier accompanied the Snowbirds team on the road for the first time in 2022 and will join the crew again this season 2023. He is grateful for the work and travel opportunities the show season brings.
