Reconstitution

Canadian Army (CA) Reconstitution efforts will be focussed on working within a CAF framework to meet the personnel generation needs of the near-term while making holistic changes to structures, processes, and activities to both modernize and restore the health of the CA.

The CA Reconstitution program will balance the need to attract, recruit, and train new soldiers with the requirement to retain and fully employ the potential of our well-trained and talented Regular Force and Army Reserve soldiers and officers.

CA Reconstitution efforts will include increasing the number of personnel posted to Recruiting Centres, key training centres, and schools. This will provide stable and predictable deployment opportunities for both Regular and Reserve force members at all rank levels, and address work/life balance through a thorough review and prioritization of all CA activities.

Reconstitution will also include efforts to reduce the processing time required to recruit and enroll new members of the Army Reserve, and greatly speed up the process to transfer between the Regular and Reserve components.

Reconstitution is an integral component of the Canadian Army Modernization Strategy. The future structure and capabilities of the Army will be designed and selected with a focus on attracting, training, and retaining our personnel, all while delivering the tools and technologies required to fulfill the CA mission well into the future.
