Anouk Utzschneider
Meet our team
Anouk Utzschneider, Director, Evaluation and Advisory Services, Moncton, N.B.
Originally from Strasbourg, France, Anouk Utzschneider has been living in New Brunswick for 17 years. She did her PhD here, where she studied environmental decision making. The subject of her thesis still has a profound influence on the way she works.
After working as a flight attendant for Air Canada, she spent most of her career working as a researcher and university professor in the United States, Ontario and New Brunswick. Currently the Director of Evaluation and Advisory Services for ACOA, she leads a team of four evaluation analysts and a coordinator.
Working for ACOA gives her a great deal of pride because she sees the Agency making a major difference in the lives, businesses and families of the region. “My kids and my spouse like to tease me about how happy I get and how I take pictures every time we travel through Atlantic Canada and I see a sign that says a project was supported by ACOA!”
Anouk says the Agency is a major player in economic development for many reasons; it not only provides financial support but also plays a unifying role and provides valuable strategic advice to businesses, industry organizations and many other key organizations in the region.
Students often intern with Anouk’s team; helping to train the next generation is important to her. Since the beginning of the pandemic, many people, often young and educated, are leaving the city to settle in the Atlantic provinces. “Working at ACOA, I realized that the image we have of Atlantic Canada is often inaccurate. We are known as a major tourist destination, and that is certainly one of our great assets, but there is so much more! There are great technological advances that have come out of Atlantic Canada, and there is tremendous potential in a number of areas.”
