Today, the Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Member of Parliament for Bonavista – Burin – Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced more than $103,000 in support from the Government of Canada’s Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program for the Grand Bank Heritage Society and the Grand Bank Lions Club.

Community facilities across the country play a vital role in boosting both quality of life and economic activity. Many of these facilities are in need of updates and repairs.

The Grand Bank Heritage Society Inc. is receiving a contribution of $87,929, which will enable the organization to install Barrington Tumbled Stone Pavers throughout the walkways around the Mariner's Memorial and to undertake enhancements to the George C. Harris House Interpretation Centre and Museum of Local History.  The upgrades will help increase accessibility to the site and improve the visitor experience.

The Grand Bank Lions Club is receiving $15,613 in funding to remove and replace shingles on the roof of the Grand Bank Lions Club and to install an ice guard that will enable the building to continue functioning as a community centre.
