Nova Scotia Aerospace Firm Freezes Out Competition
News Release
STELIA North America Inc. receives Government of Canada support for freezer storage expansion
April 28, 2016 – Lunenburg, N.S. – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
STELIA Aerospace North America Inc., formerly Composites Atlantic Limited, is expanding freezer storage space to help meet increased demand for its products. The Government of Canada today announced a $259,000 contribution to enable STELIA to construct a new 1,600 square foot freezer building at its Lunenburg facility. The repayable contribution comes from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency’s Business Development Program (BDP).
Freezing is required to store the temperature-sensitive raw materials used in the production of STELIA’s composite components. The company’s current freezer storage capacity is no longer adequate to address the demands of new and expanded customer contracts. The new unit will effectively double freezer capacity at STELIA.
By providing increased freezer storage, this addition will improve energy efficiency and reduce system maintenance.
