For well over a decade, Music PEI, the music industry association for Prince Edward Island, has been organizing and hosting popular music events that are locally staged and attract international attention. Building on its successes in 2015, the organization will celebrate the second year of both the May Run Music Festival and the Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference. The events take place from Wednesday May 18 through to Sunday,
May 22.
Sean Casey, Member of Parliament (Charlottetown), on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced a non-repayable $15,000 contribution to support Music PEI for the May Run Music Festival and Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference. In addition to this funding, MP Casey also announced ACOA’s contributions totalling $9,975 to Music PEI to help increase business skills within the music industry and provide export opportunities.
Today, Music PEI announced its 2016 event schedule and artist line-up. The May Run Music Festival will build on Music PEI’s past years of success and incorporating numerous concerts and showcases. Popular favorites such as the Songwriter’s Concert, Country Jubilee and Closing Concert. The Bell Aliant Canadian Song Conference will include panels, workshops and many top industry professionals from across Canada and beyond discussing not only songwriting but many other facets of the business of music, including creating multiple revenue streams.
