Boisdale to Benefit from Community Infrastructure Program
News Release
May 9, 2016 – Boisdale, N.S. – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
The Honourable Mark Eyking, Member of Parliament for Sydney-Victoria, announced a $24,393 contribution from the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) to support upgrades to the Boisdale Volunteer Fire Department. The announcement was made at the department’s Annual General Meeting on Saturday.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is contributing $24,393 to support the installation of an entrance door system and a new roof, complete with an ice deflection system. The building improvements will offer a safer facility for the volunteer fire department to work in, while continuing to provide a venue for cherished community events such as meetings, fundraisers and other special events.
The national CIP150 initiative is providing up to $150 million over two years to support projects that rehabilitate, renovate and expand existing public infrastructure for communities. It is part of the Government of Canada’s activities to honour Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017. The program is expected to boost economic activity through infrastructure investments, build community-based partnerships and modernize existing community facilities.
