Milton Memorial Hall Receives Meaningful Upgrades

News Release

Government of Canada supports improvements to the Milton Memorial Hall

Milton, N.S. - Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) - Today, the Government of Canada announced a $41,552 investment in support of the Milton Community Association as they work to improve the Milton Memorial Hall, the heartbeat of the Village of Milton.

The non-repayable contribution, through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150), will allow the Association to upgrade the Village’s existing Memorial Hall. Once completed, land enhancements will alleviate water issues impacting the parking lot and threatening the integrity of the building. A more efficient heating system will replace two oil furnaces resulting in significant cost savings. This project was made possible with participation from all three levels of government. The Government of Nova Scotia contributed $15,000 in support of this project and the Region of Queens Municipality contributed $1,250.

Together, the Association and Memorial Hall strengthen the quality of life for community residents by hosting local events and festivals, such as annual New Year’s Eve celebrations, holiday dinners, and the Milton Days Festival.

Background

The Millton Community Association is a community-based, not-for-profit organization serving Queens County of Nova Scotia. With the Village’s memorial hall acting as headquarters, the Milton Community Association works diligently to provide fundraising events throughout the year, including weekly BINGO, dances, Milton Days, and Canada Day festivities.
