Scotia Pool making a splash in Bible Hill

News Release

Bill Casey, Member of Parliament for Cumberland – Colchester, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for ACOA, today announced a $97,000 non-repayable contribution to the Scotia Pool Society through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150). The society is installing energy efficiency upgrades to the pool for improved operation of the facility.

The funding announced today will enable the Scotia Pool Society to install a solar blanket, solar panels, pool dehumidification, air conditioning unit, heat exchanger, and LED lighting. Other capital upgrades such as painting, engineering and design work are also part of this renovation project. Installation of a propane boiler system has already been completed.

A volunteer board oversees the daily management of the pool which provides a variety of programming including instruction in all levels of swim and leadership, family and lane swims, aquatic fitness, rehabilitation therapy, as well as swim team, parent classes and group rentals.  These new upgrades will improve the overall user experience at the pool and make it easier for the countless volunteers who help run the facility.

This project is also being supported by Efficiency Nova Scotia with a contribution of $12,265.

The Government of Canada remains committed to working with the Province of Nova Scotia to create jobs, strengthen the middle class, and grow the Atlantic Canadian economy. Today’s announcement forms part of the Atlantic Growth Strategy’s commitment to drive economic growth in the region.
