Tyne Valley Firemen's Club Gets Upgrades

New Vehicle Bay, Bowling Alley, Kitchen all part of project

The Tyne Valley Firemen’s Club was incorporated in 1962 to support the Tyne Valley Fire Department. The Club owns a multi-purpose facility that includes the fire hall, a bowling alley, a food and beverage lounge, a reception lounge, and a kitchen. Over the years, it has become a popular local venue for a variety of community events and is home to several bowling leagues. Now, the facilities are getting some upgrades, with assistance from the Government of Canada.

Bobby Morrissey, Member of Parliament for Egmont, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, today announced a federal investment of $158,173 in the project through the Canada 150 Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). The Provincial Government, through the Community Development Program, is providing funding in the amount of $6,500.

The project will include a new 22 by 66 foot addition to the existing fire hall to house emergency response vehicles and medical first responder equipment, upgrades to the bowling alley that continues to promote physical activity to all ages and abilities, and renovations to the fryer food area to make it a safer environment for workers in the kitchen and lounge areas. These improvements will enhance the club’s capacity to serve local communities both as an emergency service provider and as a local gathering place, helping to ensure that the Club remains viable for years to come.
