Government of Canada Invests in North West Avalon Projects

Local company and communities to benefit from investments
March 13, 2017 – Winterton, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
The Honourable Judy Foote, Minister of Public Services and Procurement and Member of Parliament for Bonavista-Burin-Trinity, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced a total investment of $209,788 for three projects on the North West Avalon.
The Town of Winterton will use a $100,000 conditionally repayable investment from ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP) to upgrade the existing electrical infrastructure at Outside Pond RV Park.
The Town of Old Perlican used an investment of $59,788 through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) to develop an outdoor surface for both winter and summer activities. This recreational space is being used for skating, ice hockey, ball hockey, and as a venue for outdoor community events.
E. J. Green & Company Limited is using a $50,000 investment from ACOA’s Business Development Program (BDP) to hire a person to conduct scientific research related to various sea products. The company will also work on plant efficiencies and product development.
