Governments Invest in Town of Holyrood

Governments of Canada and Newfoundland and Labrador invest in Oceans Sector 

March 14, 2017 – Holyrood, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency 

Ken McDonald, Member of Parliament for Avalon, and the Honourable Christopher Mitchelmore, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation (TCII), today announced a total investment of $122,918 for an 18-month oceans related project in the Town of Holyrood

MP McDonald announced $79,437 from ACOA’s Business Development Program, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and Minister Mitchelmore announced $43,481 from TCII for the Town of Holyrood to carry out strategic marketing and sector development activities to position the town to benefit from continued growth within the oceans sector. 

The Town recently completed the initial phase of the Oceans Holyrood Initiative, which built capacity to promote the region as a place to conduct oceans related business activity through the development of a strategy and the creation of key business development assets. This project will support the town in further building the oceans sector.
