News Release
Expansion and productivity improvement projects help local company scale-up operations
March 31, 2017 – Woodstock, NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
After outgrowing its original Belleville location, Stockford Reefer Services, a family-owned and operated transport refrigeration repair and maintenance company, is ready for future growth in its larger facility thanks in part to an investment from the Government of Canada.
TJ Harvey, Member of Parliament for Tobique-Mactaquac, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), joined the Stockford family in Woodstock yesterday to mark the official opening of the company’s new facilities.
Stockford Reefer Services’ new building is two and a half times larger than the former facility and includes three reefer repair bays, cross docking ability, a driver lounge, a large parts room, office spaces, as well as a break room for employees.
The Government of Canada provided a repayable contribution of $500,000 towards the expansion project through ACOA’s Business Development Program, while the company contributed the remaining funds needed to complete this project.
Stockford Reefer Services also received a non-repayable contribution of $50,000 from ACOA’s Business Development Program to grow its management team. The new hire will help the company implement best practices throughout its operation to improve productivity, ensuring that the business is well-positioned and prepared to maximize on opportunities for continued growth.
These projects build on the Government of Canada’s commitment to drive economic growth in Atlantic Canada through the Atlantic Growth Strategy, which supports strategic investments in initiatives that build on the region’s competitive advantages, such as its strong export potential, growing innovation ecosystem, and skilled workforce.
