Government of Canada invests in East Hants Sports Hall of Fame

March 13, 2017 – Lantz, NS – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Olympic rower Tracy Cameron, along with legendary East Hants hockey defencemen Graham Isenor and Keith Miller, are just three of the hometown heroes honoured in the East Hants Sports Hall of Fame.

Now the sporting achievements of East Hants’ daughters and sons will be better showcased for residents and visitors alike. The Honourable Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board and Member of Parliament for Kings-Hants, today announced $45,000 in Government of Canada funding through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) to expand and enhance the facility’s exhibits.

The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Project activities include installing a brick entrance archway, an athlete mural wall, and a touch-screen video kiosk, as well as the production of new videos for the 2017 Hall of Fame class.

The East Hants Hall of Fame, operated by the East Hants Sport Heritage Society, is located on the second floor of the  East Hants Sportsplex. The Hall of Fame helps to preserve the community’s rich sports history, celebrating accomplishments of local athletes, teams, coaches, and volunteers. Admission is free and the Hall is open during the Sportsplex’s operating hours.

In July of this year, the East Hants Sports Hall of Fame annual induction ceremony will be conducted in conjunction with Tidefest, East Hants’ first-ever homecoming weekend.
