Town of Saint-Quentin Receives Funds for Facility Upgrades

Investments will rehabilitate Théâtre Montcalm

Saint-Quentin residents celebrated news that a major rehabilitation of Théâtre Montcalm will be undertaken thanks to an injection of funds from the federal and provincial governments.
René Arseneault, Member of Parliament for Madawaska-Restigouche, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage; and Gilles LePage, MLA for Restigouche West, on behalf of the Honourable Donald Arseneault, Minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation, today announced government support for the community centre transformation.
Théâtre Montcalm serves an important role in the area for recreational and cultural activities, as well as a meeting place for residents. The project work will involve a number of upgrades such as bringing the facility up to current building code standards.
The Government of Canada, through ACOA, is providing a contribution of $400,200 under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) for the building upgrades, while the Department of Canadian Heritage provided $249,000 for the project through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. The Province of New Brunswick is investing $500,000 through the Regional Development Corporation.
The CIP 150 Program is providing up to $300 million nationally over two years to support projects to rehabilitate, renovate and expand community and recreational infrastructure as part of the Government of Canada’s activities to honour Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation.
