Town of St. Stephen and Kiwanis Club Unveil Skateboard Park Plans

Community to benefit from federal, provincial and municipal support

The Town of St. Stephen and the Kiwanis Club of St. Stephen today unveiled plans for a new skateboard park, which will benefit local youth and their families, thanks to investments by the federal, provincial and municipal governments.
Karen Ludwig, Member of Parliament for New Brunswick Southwest, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Honourable John Ames, Minister of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, joined officials from St. Stephen to make the announcement today.
The project involves new equipment, fencing and paving to create a skateboard park in a section of the Border Arena parking lot.
The Government of Canada is investing $42,250 in the project through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). The Province of New Brunswick, through the Regional Development Corporation (RDC), is contributing $20,000, while the Town of St. Stephen and the Kiwanis Club are investing a total of $40,000.
