May 27, 2017 – Norris Point, NL – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency
All Canadians deserve to live in inclusive and vibrant communities where they can connect with their friends and neighbours. Investing in local community infrastructure will improve existing facilities, build stronger community ties and strengthen the middle class and those seeking to join it.
Gudie Hutchings, Member of Parliament for Long Range Mountains, today announced investments of $148,170 for projects in and around the Rocky Harbour area. The recipients and projects include:
Gros Morne Summer Music Inc. to repair and modernize the St. Patrick’s facility in Woody Point.
The Town of Rocky Harbour to enhance an existing sports field in the community as well as to make repairs to the arena.
The Town of Parson’s Pond to purchase new equipment for Hillview Park and to construct Peace Garden.
Today’s announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).
These projects are being partly funded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). Funding in Atlantic Canada is delivered through ACOA. These investments, to honour Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation, will help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history.
