Beauséjour Curling Club Hosts Sod Turning Ceremony

The Government of Canada recognizes that investing in community infrastructure is necessary to strengthen the middle class and provide municipalities with the building blocks they need to support a high standard of living for all Canadians and their families.
Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Member of Parliament for Moncton – Riverview – Dieppe, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), along with the Honourable Cathy Rogers Minister of Finance, and Charles Léger, Deputy Mayor of Moncton, joined officials from Curl Moncton Inc. today to participate in a funding announcement and sod turning event to mark the beginning of an expansion project for the Beauséjour Curling Club.
The upgrades will include an increase to the club’s ice-sheet capacity thereby enabling the club to expand its curling programming, and will also address accessibility issues.
The Government of Canada is investing $300,000 under the Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150) for the expansion project while the Government of New Brunswick is providing $500,000 and the City of Moncton is contributing $706,400.
The CIP150 is providing up to $300 million nationally over two years to support projects to rehabilitate, renovate and expand community and recreational infrastructure as part of the Government of Canada’s activities to honour Canada’s 150th anniversary of Confederation. These investments help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history. CIP150 is administered by ACOA in the Atlantic region.
