July 27, 2017– Neguac NB – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

Strategic community infrastructure investments help enhance tourism growth and economic development across New Brunswick. Thanks to investments from the federal, provincial and municipal governments, the Village of Neguac has developed a new industrial park.

Pat Finnigan, Member of Parliament for Miramichi – Grand Lake, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), along with the Honourable Lisa Harris, Minister of Seniors and Long-Term Care and Minister responsible for Celtic Affairs, and his Worship Georges R. Savoie, Mayor of the Village of Neguac, were in Neguac today for the announcement.

The project is supporting the development of a nine-acre field, including the preparation of four sites with road access, water services and a sewage system, to accommodate the establishment of four new businesses.

The Government of Canada, through ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund (ICF), is providing the Village of Neguac with a non-repayable contribution of $132,759. The Province of New Brunswick is also investing $132,759, while the Village of Neguac is providing $88,505 to support this project.

This project builds on the Government of Canada’s and the Province of New Brunswick’s commitment to work together to drive economic growth in Atlantic Canada through the Atlantic Growth Strategy. This strategy involves targeted actions to stimulate Atlantic Canada's economy, including supporting key infrastructure projects that support long-term growth and position the region to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
