Government of Canada supports nine projects through CIP 150 program

July 6, 2017 – New Haven, PE – Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency

In rural regions across PEI, members from small community groups work and volunteer each day to meet the needs of residents. Many of the services these organizations provide, from daily amenities to special events, require accessible gathering spaces and recreational areas. The Government of Canada knows that investing in social infrastructure in rural Atlantic Canada means increased economic opportunities and improved quality of life for all.

The Honourable Wayne Easter, Member of Parliament for Malpeque, on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today joined representatives from nine community organizations to announce funding for social infrastructure upgrades in communities across Central PEI.

As part of the celebrations for Canada’s 150th anniversary, the Government of Canada, through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150), is investing a total of $304,846 in nine projects that will build upon existing community assets, expand economic opportunities in the region, and support the well-being of residents.
