Eastern PEI Families to Enjoy Improved Community Spaces for a Better Quality of Life

Backgrounder

Details of the six projects announced today are as follows:

  • $250,050 to Community of Morell to renovate and upgrade the Morell Community Rink;

  • $250,050 to Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 3 to renovate facility for accessibility and safety;

  • $45,342 to Island East Tourism Group Inc. to renovate the Destination Centre;

  • $40,265 to Fortune Community Centre to renovate and upgrade the facility;

  • $28,540 to Friends of the Shipwreck Point Lighthouse Inc. to upgrade tourism infrastructure;

  • $7,820 to St. Peters Area Rink and Recreational Club Inc. to upgrade the community recreation facility.

The Government of PEI provided support for three of the projects announced today:

  • Through the Department of Rural and Regional Development’s Community Development Program, the Souris Legion will receive $20,000 and the Fortune Community Centre will receive $10,000 to support their projects.

  • The Department is also providing $31,000 to the Friends of Shipwreck Point Lighthouse through the Northside Windmill Enhancement Program to support upgrades to the interpretive centre in Naufrage.
