Trenton and Area Minor Softball Assocation Receives Infrastructure Funding for upgrades to Scotia Park

All Canadians deserve to live in inclusive and vibrant communities where they can connect with their friends and neighbours. Investing in local community infrastructure will improve existing facilities, build stronger community ties and strengthen the middle class and those seeking to join it.

Sean Fraser, Member of Parliament for Central Nova, today announced an investment of more than $67,000 for the Trenton and Area Minor Softball Association for upgrades to the Scotia Park ball field. The total cost of the renovations for the ball field, which includes new lighting and fencing, is $135,000.

The ball field, which opened in June of 1971, has been a community hub for over 46 years. The field is used regularly by schools, recreation programs, various tournaments, private events, and annual events such as the Joe Earle Memorial Road Races in Trenton.

Today’s announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

Following the announcement, MP Fraser, members of the Trenton and Area Minor Softball Association and members of the community enjoyed a friendly game of softball and a barbeque.

This project is being partly funded through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP 150). Funding in Atlantic Canada is delivered through ACOA. These investments, to honour Canada’s 150^th anniversary of Confederation, help create jobs, boost economic activity, strengthen communities and celebrate Canada’s rich heritage and history.
